On Saturday, July 20th, 2013. LACO Squad 191 in La Habra responded to a 15 year old male patient unconscious in cardiac arrest. Prior to collapsing, the patient had been playing basketball inside the gym at the local high school Paramedics Scott Sherman and Ed Rodriguez responded promptly to the call noting the patient was in V-Fib with no pulse or respirations. Early Defibrilation and assisted respirations saved this young man’s life. He was transported to St. Jude Medical Center immediately for continued care before eventually being transferred to CHOC and then home. Captain Alex Solis, seen in the picture with Sherman and Paul Soteropoulos describes his crew as “dedicated and hard working” and I agree. It is my pleasure to be part of their team. -Sheryl Cradney, Base Hospital Coordinator, SJMC.
